Welcome to The Prancing Puppy Inn
Where comfort, care and compassion meet.

Hi, I’m Sandra. I live in Springfield, VA with my husband Ryan and our roommate Mike. Together, we offer personalized, in-home care for up to four dogs at a time in a cozy, kennel-free environment. Mike and I both work from home, so your pet will receive constant supervision, structure, and tons of affection, just like one of our own. We are also able to accommodate a solo-stay for your dog if needed!

For us, this is more than just pet sitting. It’s about making a difference and saving lives.

Since 2013, we’ve used boarding income to help fund our work with animal rescue organizations including City Dogs Rescue, Capitol Canines Animal Rescue, and Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue. Every single stay helps cover the cost of food, vet bills, transport, and medical care for animals still awaiting their furever home. When you book with us, you’re doing more than finding a great place for your pet to stay, You’re directly helping another one survive.

What Sets Us Apart

At The Prancing Puppy Inn, your dog isn’t just another booking. They are our guest.

We offer a warm, structured, and nurturing environment tailored to your pet’s personality and needs.

We care for up to 4 dogs at a time, ensuring a calm, kennel-free environment where each pup gets the attention and supervision they deserve. Dogs are never left unattended, indoors or out, and are always part of a monitored, safe, and comfortable pack.
This isn’t a kennel. It’s a home.

We offer last-minute availability and flexible scheduling without ever

compromising on the level of care your pet receives.

The Prancing Puppy Inn is fully insured through PCI and licensed in the state of Virginia.

Your dog will be:

   - Fed, walked, and snuggled like one of our own.
- Given personalized attention all day long.
   - Part of a safe, and social pack of up to 4 dogs. (unless they’re here for a Solo Stay).

Our Home Amenities Include:

  -  A ½-acre private yard with a secure 6-foot fence, inspected daily.
-   Access to all the cozy furniture including couches, beds, rugs, and sun spots.
  -  Potty breaks every 2 to 4 hours, or more often if needed.
   - A bone-shaped doggy pool for enrichment and warm weather fun.
    - Flexible sleeping arrangements including the kitchen, office, living room, or upstairs bedrooms.

Sandra and Mike are home full-time and handle all daily care. Ryan brings the fun and extra affection when he’s home from work. With a hands-on team like this, your pet isn’t just watched. They are known, loved, and cared for like one of the family.

Special Needs? Senior Dogs? Puppies? We've Got You Covered.

We’ve worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments.

We welcome the quirks that make them unique. We have experience with:
  -  Oral and injected medication
- Senior and special needs care
  -  First Aid and CPR
-   Crate training for puppies (used overnight for safety)
  -  Behavioral support for anxious or reactive dogs

Solo Stay Experience

Not every dog enjoys being part of a group, and that’s perfectly okay.
If your pet is dog-reactive, a young unvaccinated puppy, recovering from surgery,

or an un-spayed female in heat, we offer our Solo Stay experience just for them.
Your pup will stay with Mike in his private in-law suite.

This includes:
-  A separate entrance
-   Private access to the fenced yard
-    No interaction with other dogs
-   One-on-one walks and care throughout the day

It’s calm, quiet, and ideal for pets who need space, structure, or extra medical attention.

They’ll receive the same loving care, just in a solo setting.
Let us know if you think your pet might benefit from a Solo Stay — we’re happy to make it happen.

How Your Stay Saves Lives

This isn’t just a job. It’s our mission.
We started fostering in 2013. One dog turned into five, Five turned into fifty, and now over a decade later we’ve personally fostered more than 600 dogs and cats. Many of them were seniors, special needs, or had medical conditions that would have otherwise left them overlooked or euthanized in shelters.

Pet boarding allows us to keep saying YES to the hard cases.

Every single booking with us helps fund:
- Emergency vet visits
- Routine check-ups and vaccinations
- Medications and post-op recovery care
- Specialized food for sick or senior dogs
- Safe transportation from kill shelters to foster homes
- Basic supplies like crates, toys, leashes, and bedding

We pledge to use proceeds from every stay to fully fund the care of another rescue animal. It's a promise we've kept since day one. We don’t just love dogs, We are actively working to save them.

And if you choose to leave a tip through Rover, 100% of that tip is donated directly back to the rescue to help cover life-saving expenses. No exceptions.

With us, you’ll find peace of mind, premium care, and a place where your dog feels

completely at home while helping another dog find their home.

We can’t wait to care for and love your pup!
